It was a long flight filled with fantastic experiences. Tom, an aviator and traveler with exceptional flying skills, agreed to join me on an extended trip to explore some extraordinary, wonderful places. Our route took us from California (Oxnard) to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where we spent several days together. On the way back, thanks to good weather, we were able to explore the surroundings from the air.

This photo features Mount Rushmore, a national monument located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The monument showcases the carved faces of four U.S. Presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. In 2024, the event attracted a record 686,000 attendees from around the globe and over 10,000 aircraft. During the event, there were 16,780 aircraft operations, and 2,846 aircraft were on display, including 337 military planes, 1,200 vintage aircraft, 975 homebuilt aircraft, 82 aerobatic planes, 65 seaplanes and amphibious aircraft, 23 rotorcraft, 10 balloons, and 154 ultralights and light aircraft (FLYING Magazine).
